My Personal Guide to Travelling in Europe

The Seville Cathedral

Seville is the capital city of the southern region of Andalusia in Spain. It is known for being the home of flamenco dancing as well as having beautiful architecture that takes inspiration from north Africa. It is home to the Moorish royal palace, the Alcazar of Seville, which houses the royal family when they visit Seville. You'll also find the Seville Cathedral close by, which was built between 1401 and 1506. It is said to be the resting place of Christopher Columbus' remains but Santo Domingo and Havana also claim to hold the explorer's remains, so that's a debate for another day. Inside is a stunning alter made entirely of gold leaf which is truly a masterpiece. If you can muster up the energy to climb the bell tower all the way to the top, you'll be graced with stunning views of Seville from all sides.

Plaza de Espana

Another historical landmark that you must see when travelling in Seville i the Plaza de Espana. This plaza was built in 1928 for the Ibero-American Exposition in 1929. Today it houses many government buildings. The buildings are built in a semi-circle and the majority of the plaza is made entirely of marble tiles. Like many of the other landmarks you'll see on this page, the Plaza de Espana has also been featured in many films, even Star Wars!

Of course, wherever you are in Spain, it's always a good idea to stop for some authentic paella. The traditional rice dish is served all kinds of way, whether you're a fish or meat lover, you're bound to find one to satisfy your cravings. Don't let the shrimp heads scare you because this dish is truly mouthwatering!
